WordCamp Austin Needs You!

Have you heard the good news? WordCamp Austin is coming back to the Live Music Capitol of the World. That’s right: once again you’ll get to revel in all things WordPress here in Austin on October 21-22, 2017!

And as part of that, we’d like to invite you to participate.

We’re currently accepting pitches for presentations from everyone in Austin, as well as our friends all across the wider WordPress community.

This is a great way to get your business and expertise out in front of our vibrant WordPress community, meet some great developers and business owners, and have a blast! Because if you haven’t heard, WordCamps aren’t your typical conferences. They’re full of energy and fun from start to finish.

What We’re Looking For

For WordCampATX we’d like to see what the best minds have to offer. This is Austin, after all!

We’d love to hear from WordPress developers who can geek out on backend code, and designers that will demonstrate the latest in theme design, CSS and Javascript bells and whistles.

But a good WordCamp is more than how to engineer a great WordPress site.

We’d also like to hear from people who use WordPress for their businesses. Are you a freelancer or small business owner? What kind of tips and tricks can you share with us? Have you discovered clever ways to integrate mailing lists or membership plugins? How about using your site for ecommerce? Examples of WordPress in the wild will inspire attendees and help them understand the power of the WordPress platform.

We would also love to hear from folks who can help out our newbies. At each WordCamp a good number of our attendees are brand new to the WordPress universe. That means we’ll welcome basic tutorials on using WordPress, choosing themes and plugins, and working with other media.

And let’s not forget content! What makes a website effective? What are good blogging practices? How can content drive SEO? We’d love to have some writers, UX designers and SEO experts come and share their craft with us.

Finally, there’s those topics that touch on our broader community. Tell us how you get involved in your local WordPress community, or your high-tech or design groups. How do you use WordPress to benefit nonprofits and change lives?

WordCamp Austin Talk Tracks

For WordCampATX we currently have three tracks:

1. Starting a website: The Full Picture

2. Making a living with WordPress

3. WordPress as a Solution

These tracks don’t cover everything, however—they’re just the beginning! If you have an idea that doesn’t fit into one of those topics, that’s great. We’ll have room for lots of other talks throughout the two days of WordCamp Austin, so don’t worry if your idea seems a bit “out there.” This is Austin, after all, and we firmly believe in keeping Austin weird!

Still Not Convinced?

Look, we get it. You may be new to WordCamps. You might think you’re too new at this whole WordPress thing to make a contribution. Or you might be ready to apply, but you just don’t have a good idea yet.

If you need help coming up with the perfect pitch, we’ve got your back. At our Call for Speakers page we describe each of our tracks in detail, and we even provide sample topics to get the creative juices flowing.

Can We Count on You?

We’d love to hear what you have to say. But hurry—the deadline to pitch your topic is July 31st.

So what are you waiting for? Join us for two days of some of the finest conversations and BBQ Texas has to offer!
